Excellent business deals, an outstanding climate for investment, a remarkable number of
extremely promising contacts, an even more international character, and a positive spirit for
the Indian organic. These were the ingredients that crafted the 10th Anniversary edition of
BIOFACH INDIA organized jointly by the NuernbergMesse India and the Agricultural &
Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). This year’s show brought
the highest attendance and participation, which proves that the organic industry in India is
resilient and poised for great transformation in the coming years.
BIOFACH INDIA was inaugurated by Honourable Shri. Suresh Prabhu, Minister of
Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation who stated “India produces about 600 million
tonne of agricultural and horticultural products annually. The new agriculture policy has been
unveiled with the vision to double the farmers' incomes and increase the share of agricultural
exports from present about $30 billion to over $60 billion by 2022”.
Other eminent dignitaries present at the inauguration included Shri Paban K. Borthakur,
Chairman- APEDA, dignitaries from the German Embassy : Dr. Renate Schimkoreit –
Minister, Head of Economic & Global Affairs Department, Mr. Michael Kessler - Counsellor for
Food and Agriculture and various Government and Industrial stakeholders.
- Trade Fair: BIOFACH INDIA witnessed successful participation by private companies,
Govt. Boards, certification bodies and organized pavilions by various states of India.
The exhibiting companies displayed a wide variety of attractive products from food and
beverage, natural care & wellness and textiles sectors.
- International Buyer's Delegation: 50 + international buyers
from over 18 countries visited the event so as to specifically
extend their network and develop new procurement sources. There were a total
number of 170 business appointments concluded and fulfilling networking goals
achieved over three days and the total value of business generated was approximately
INR. 47 crores at an all-time high.
- High quality Conference Program: Knowledge Sessions, in addition to business and
networking, score high among 2018 delegates’ event experience. The technical
sessions deliberated on the current practices/trends/challenges faced by the organic
sector with eminent key national and international speakers from the organic industry.
- Organic Farmers Conference organized by OFAI on the first day of the show
enthralled the audience with success stories of farmers practicing organic farming all
- State Pavilions : Organized pavilions from several states of India showcased a wide
variety of products. Major highlight at the event were the products from North-Eastern
states which is gaining momentum as the hub of Indian organic farm products.
- Farmer’s Market : themed “Organic for my plate and palate”
India exported 458 thousand tonnes of organic products worth $515 million in 2017-18, from
$370 million in 2016-17– registering a whopping 39% increase from the previous year showing
the increasing demand for Indian organic products across the World, say officials from
“International buyer's delegation comprising of 50 + buyers from 18 countries, apart from
showing interest in Indian organic products were also found engaging in interaction with Indian
companies and farmers and exchanging information, resources and knowledge about
agricultural practices, commodities being grown, quality of Indian organic products and their
availability at BIOFACH India 2018. APEDA is proud to partner and co-organize a truly global
